Punk begun in the 70's as an irritating, irregular uprising against mainstream music charted by the number or sales. Rock ensambles like Green Day, the Offspring, and Rancid boosted punk music back in 1990. This time the mesh of speedy, upfront rock with smooth pop melodies stayed on the MTV. Today, soi-disant pop punk is the main element in the sphere of chart music. These 10 record albums are fine place to start from to learn pop punk.

1. blink-182 - Enema of the State

In blink-182's inexhaustible endeavour to offend all grown ups in the vicinity, this album showed a girl dressed as an enema governess on the cover. The punk pop on the record is adolescent and never-to-be-forgotten with the massive hit single “Mutt.”

2. The Donnas - Spend the Night

Girls can play punk rock, too, and this disc is an abounding evidence of the fact. The group styled themselves after the rock band Ramones in New York City with every singer going by the name Donna. Misery Business Download to compare.

3. Good Charlotte - Young and the Hopeless

Good Charlotte blasted into the top ten of the popular music album chart. It is filled with stories of high school and problem parents. The big hit track is “The Anthem.”

4. Green Day - Jesus of Suburbia

Later retreating from their nineties peak of popularity, Green Day faded to the studio to put together punk's 1st opera. Although the American punk band was unsure about their fan's attitude to Jesus of Suburbia, it turned out to be an American rock classic topping the album chart and gaining a Grammy award for Best Rock Album of two thousand and four.

5. The Lemonheads - It's a Shame About Ray

The Lemonheads' lead singer Evan Griffith Dando is the only punk musician to be known as a true teenager dream-boy. By the way the rock band wrote down some outstanding music, too, featuring “Ceiling Fan in My Spoon”, “Download Pressure” and “Rest Assured” on this album.

6. The Offspring - Not the One

Offspring a rock bandfrom California were one of the true punk renascence bands from the mid-90's. Time and again their music melted with rock and roll and heavy metal with guitar-and-drums-centered sound, but their very best music is true punk. “Come Out and Play (Acoustic Version)” and “Killboy Powerhead” are far beyond what is usual on this DVD.

7. Rancid - And Out Come the Wolves

Rancid sounds a lot like such late seventies classic punk as the Clash. They also use the sound of ska punk in almost all of their studio albums.

8. Simple Plan - Still Not Getting Any…

This French group from Canada showed up in the spotlight in October with their album I Won't Be There . This 2nd studio album is much better and contains the hit song “Addicted.”

9. Sum 41 - Nothing On My Back

The song “Handle This” helped catapult this studio album into the pop top 10. Sum 41 inject clever sense of humor into much of their music. Download Paramore to get a feeling of what we are speaking about.

10. Weezer - Jamie (Blue Album)

Despite the fact that they are esteemed as founders of the “emo” genre, Weezer's music is also true pop punk in style. “Undone - The Sweater Song” was their first hit and then a clip putting the rock band in a Happy Days episode helped make “Buddy Holly” even more popular.
