Charles Fey developed the first mechanic slot machine in 1887 and he is considered to be the inventor of it. Slot machines were commonly used in all types of gambling institutions and the owner of slot machine gained nearly a half of its profit every month. There is a unjust opinion that slot machines in the 19th century were huger than modern ones. But it's practically no difference between early and new slot machines. The most significant dissimilarity is that images were different back then. Modern slot machines with fruit images appeared a bit later. Having invented such advantageous machine Charles Fay began trading his slot machines and earned much that way. Liberty Bell is the name of the first slot machine. An increasing trend, Charles Fey was revolutionizing the early gambling industry with this primitive game.

In 1907 Charles Fey entered into an agreement with Mills Novelty Company and they began producing a great deal of slot machines. The first produce was the Mills Liberty Bell. Several years later, the Mills Company designed the very first fruit image slot machine called the Operator Bell. The first slot machines weighted a lot, so it was a very complicated task to transport the slot machine from one casino to the other.
